About Amazon Relay
The registration screen asks for a carrier company name and a USDOT number. No account from outside Amazon's approved carrier network works. The app does not let you browse or explore without first being invited by an existing carrier or going through Amazon's carrier onboarding process. This is not a general-purpose navigation app. It is a locked portal for truck drivers and carriers who haul freight for Amazon. The moment you tap "Sign In," you are committing to a workflow that many users later find unreliable.
Once logged in, the dashboard shows the Load Board with available loads. The "Post A Truck" button is prominent. Tapping it lets you enter your truck's availability, and the app automatically books loads that match your schedule. The Trips page shows your booked loads, and you can assign or update drivers. The navigation feature provides truck-friendly routes with lane guidance. But the app has a critical flaw. It freezes and crashes frequently. Users report that the app "keep freezing all the time, not responding quick, need to reinstall every time." This is the critical moment. If the app works, you book loads, navigate to facilities, and complete deliveries. If it crashes, you miss loads, arrive late, and your performance score suffers.
How the Post A Truck feature and the navigation system actually work together
The Post A Truck feature is not a standalone tool. It depends on the app's ability to process real-time load data and match it with your truck's availability. When you post your truck, the app searches the Load Board for loads that fit your criteria and books them automatically. This is convenient. But it creates a dependency on the app's stability. If the app crashes while posting a truck, the booking may not complete. You might miss the load. The navigation system is similarly dependent. It provides route guidance to Amazon facilities, but it requires a stable connection and accurate GPS. Users report that the navigation "in most cases does not start" and that the app has "navigation glitches." This means a driver might be en route to a facility, and the app fails to provide proper guidance. The driver arrives late. The load is delayed. The driver's score drops. This is not explained on the Play Store page. The store description presents Post A Truck and navigation as separate features. In practice, they converge into a single workflow that breaks when the app crashes.
However, the crash issue has a catch. The app also provides push notifications for load updates. These notifications are supposed to alert you when a load is ready for pickup, when a load is cancelled, or when a new load is added to your schedule. But if the app is frozen, the notifications may not appear. You might miss a critical update. This creates a gap where a driver might be available, ready, and waiting, but the app fails to notify them of available loads. The result is missed opportunities and lost revenue.
What the changelog actually changed
The version history shows repeated "Bug fixes and performance improvements" without details. The latest changelog says exactly that. No specifics on what was fixed. No explanation of what was improved. The previous versions are similarly vague. The app has not seen a significant feature update in recent releases. Users report that the app still freezes, still crashes, and still has navigation issues. The changelog does not address the account deactivation problems. It does not address the payment issues. It does not address the unrealistic scheduling. The app remains a functional but fragile tool that works for basic use but fails when users need it most.
The technical detail that stops the workflow
The app requires location permission to provide navigation and to show nearby loads. If you deny location access, the navigation feature will not work. The permission is requested during the first use of the navigation feature. If you skip it, you cannot enable it later from within the app. You must go to your device settings, find Amazon Relay, and manually grant location permission. After that, the navigation works. But the app does not refresh the Load Board automatically. You have to pull down to refresh. This manual refresh is the final action you take before the app stops providing new information.
