Opening the app: what happens the second you tap the icon

The moment Just Reminder finishes loading, you are greeted with a clean, minimalist interface that presents a list of your existing reminders and a prominent "+" button at the bottom. No tutorial. No guided tour. Just a simple screen with a list, a search bar at the top, and a floating action button. The app assumes you already know what you want to do: create a reminder. Tapping the "+" button opens a new reminder screen with fields for title, date, time, repeat options, and a notes section. The interface is straightforward and uncluttered.

What is not obvious from the Play Store description is how the app handles the initial setup. The app does not ask for any permissions during the first launch. It does not request access to your contacts or calendar until you try to sync birthdays or anniversaries. This is a deliberate design choice that respects user privacy, but it also means that new users may not discover the sync feature until they explore the app's settings. The app also does not explain the difference between a "task" reminder and a "bill" reminder — you have to figure out the categorization on your own.

The app's main screen is divided into categories: ToDo, Birthday, Anniversary, and Bills. Each category has its own color-coded tab, making it easy to switch between different types of reminders. However, the app does not provide any guidance on how to use these categories effectively. For example, you can create a reminder under "ToDo" for a bill payment, but the app won't automatically categorize it as a bill. The categorization is manual, which gives you flexibility but also requires you to think about how you want to organize your reminders.

How speech-to-text and repeat reminders create a hands-free workflow

The Play Store description lists speech-to-text and repeat reminders as separate features, but it does not explain how they work together. In practice, you can tap the microphone icon while creating a reminder and speak the entire reminder details — title, date, time, and repeat interval — in one go. The app's speech recognition engine converts your voice into text and populates the relevant fields automatically. For example, saying "Remind me to pay the electricity bill every month on the 5th" will set up a monthly repeating reminder for the 5th of each month.

This is a powerful combination, but the app does not provide any guidance on the specific voice commands it supports. You have to experiment to figure out what works. The speech recognition is reasonably accurate, but it struggles with complex or ambiguous phrases. If you say "Remind me every Tuesday and Thursday at 3 PM to take my medication," the app might not correctly parse the repeat schedule. You may need to manually adjust the repeat settings after the voice input is processed.

The repeat options themselves are comprehensive. You can set reminders to repeat every minute, hour, day, week, weekday, month, or year. You can also set custom intervals, such as every 2 weeks or every 3 months. The app does not limit the number of repeats, which is useful for long-term commitments like bill payments or medication schedules. However, the app does not provide a visual calendar view of your repeating reminders, which makes it difficult to see at a glance when your next reminder is due.

The real-world performance: what actually happens during use

During testing, the app performed reasonably well on a mid-range Android device. Reminders triggered on time, and the alarm was loud and clear. The snooze function worked as expected, allowing you to delay the reminder by 5, 10, or 15 minutes. The app also supports LED blinking for devices that support it, which is a nice touch for users who rely on visual cues. The backup and restore function worked seamlessly, allowing you to save your reminders to an SD card or cloud storage and restore them on a new device.

However, the app's performance has been inconsistent since the March 2026 update. Multiple user reviews on Chrome-Stats report that the app has become unstable, with alarms failing to trigger or repeat intervals not working reliably. One user stated: "Since the recent update, the app does not work reliably, in particular the repeat intervals. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't." Another user reported that reminders do not work at all after switching to a new Android device, even after reinstalling the app. These issues are not isolated — they appear to be widespread.

The most significant complaint is the intrusive advertising. After the late March 2026 update, ads became pervasive, appearing on almost every screen. Even users who purchased the PRO version reported seeing ads, which the developer acknowledged in the changelog: "fixed issue about Ads appearing for PRO users." This suggests that the ad issue was a bug that has since been fixed, but the damage to user trust may already be done. Longtime buyers are angry about the monetization push and the UI changes that hide reminder notes, making it harder to read long text.

Storage permissions and the actual file size

The app's APK size varies by version, ranging from approximately 5.93 MB to 10.9 MB. The app requires Android 6.0 or later. The app requests permissions for network access, reading contacts, reading phone status, and running at startup, among others. The data safety section states that data is not encrypted and cannot be deleted.
