The specific fixes are welcome, but the vague closing line leaves room for guesswork. Users still do not know if their particular issue has been addressed unless it appears in the list.

When the Hardware Becomes the Barrier

The app is free. The platform is cloud-based. The features are compelling. But none of it works without the hardware. Scorbit requires a Scorbitron board installed inside the pinball machine, an NFC Tap Pad mounted under the glass, and a stable internet connection for the machine. The installation process is not trivial. It involves opening the machine, connecting wires, and configuring software. For home collectors, this is a weekend project. For arcade operators, it is a capital investment. The hardware cost, combined with the installation time, creates a significant barrier to entry. Scorbit has raised over $5 million to address this, but the hardware dependency remains. The platform is only as useful as the number of machines connected to it. As of 2025, that number is in the thousands, not the millions. The app works perfectly on paper. In practice, its utility is limited to the locations that have made the investment. A player in a city with no Scorbit-enabled machines opens the app and sees an empty map. The map is the first thing you see. An empty map is a disappointing first impression.
