About Mottu Motos
Rental Plan Selection Sets the Stage for Everything Else
Opening the Mottu Motos app lands you directly on the rental plan screen. Annual plans, "Minha Mottu," and "Conquiste" sit there as options. The annual plan runs R$25 per day with a R$600 deposit paid upfront or in 10 installments. "Minha Mottu Semi" costs R$30 daily and runs for two years, with the motorcycle becoming yours at the end. These are not abstract choices. They determine what you pay weekly and what motorcycle you can access. The app shows the Mottu Sport (TVS), the electric Mottu-e, and the Honda Pop 110i. Each model has different fuel consumption and maintenance costs. The Sport claims 45 to 65 km/L with a 10-liter tank. The Pop runs 40 to 50 km/L with a 4-liter tank. Your plan locks you into one of these for the contract duration. Plan changes are possible but require a formal request through the app. This first screen forces a decision that shapes your entire experience.
How Plan Choice Clashes with Delivery Earnings
Selecting an annual plan unlocks the Mottu Entregas delivery app integration. This is where the original tension emerges. The annual plan has a minimum 365-day commitment. The delivery app offers a demand map showing high-order regions, active orders you can pick, and weekly payment transfers. The clash appears when you realize the annual plan's weekly payment schedule (R$175 per week for the standard annual plan) does not automatically align with the delivery app's weekly earnings. You can advance weekly installments to get a monthly discount, but the app does not link your delivery earnings directly to your rental payment. If you have a slow delivery week, you still owe the weekly rental fee. The delivery app pays out separately, and the transfer system has known bugs that sometimes pass incorrect amounts. This means two core features—rental plan and delivery earnings—operate on parallel tracks that require manual reconciliation. The app does not provide a unified dashboard showing net earnings after rental costs. This is not stated on the Play Store page. It emerges only when you try to use both features simultaneously for real work.
Version History Shows the Same Vague Pattern
The version changelog for Mottu Motos has a consistent pattern across multiple updates. Version 7.14.0, released March 31, 2026, lists "Minor bug fixes and improvements." Version 7.19.0 repeats that exact phrasing. Version 7.27.0 from July 2026 says the same thing. The developer has not published specific details about what actually changed in any recent version. This matters because users report persistent issues with the support contact system, the transfer system, and the promotions display across multiple versions. The vagueness of the changelog makes it impossible to know if the bugs users complain about have been addressed. The iOS version, available on the App Store, shows a more detailed changelog mentioning "improved stability and app experience with bug fixes and internal adjustments" as well as "enhanced facial authentication, navigation, and dynamic menus." The Android version does not provide this level of detail. This discrepancy between platforms suggests different development tracks or update priorities. The Android app's changelog has remained functionally identical since at least March 2026, offering no concrete information about fixes for the reported crashes and billing issues.
The Security Breach Changed How Users View the App
A security incident in June 2026 exposed user data including names, CPF numbers, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and declared income. The breach was identified and corrected on June 29, with additional security measures implemented including access revocation, credential rotation, and phishing-resistant authentication factors. The company communicated the incident to Brazil's National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) on July 2. Payment information, card data, Pix keys, and passwords were not compromised. The company advised users to watch for scam attempts using their personal data. This incident adds a layer of risk for anyone considering the app. The app collects location, personal information, and financial data. The Play Store notes that data is not encrypted and that the developer may share data with third parties. Users trusting the platform with their CPF and income details now know that a breach already occurred once. The app's support system, already criticized for being broken, becomes an even bigger concern when security issues arise. The official response to the breach came via email, not through the app itself. This reinforces the observation that critical communication happens outside the app's own channels.
Physical Locations and the App's Role in Maintenance
The app allows users to schedule preventive, electrical, and mechanical maintenance. It also enables parts replacement requests. However, the physical execution of these requests depends entirely on the Mottu service locations. The company operates 146 physical points across more than 120 Brazilian cities. Users report that some locations do not carry parts for specific motorcycle models, forcing riders to travel to other units or wait for parts to arrive. The app handles the scheduling but does not manage parts inventory or technician availability. One user reported that a service unit in Taboão da Serra informed them that the necessary parts for their motorcycle were not available at that location, despite the app confirming the appointment. This disconnect between the app's scheduling function and the physical reality of service locations creates a practical limitation. The app shows maintenance as a feature, but the actual experience depends on geographic location and parts availability. The annual plan's 365-day commitment means users cannot easily switch providers if their local service unit lacks support for their chosen motorcycle model.
