This tracking is essential for the system to work, but it also means the app knows exactly where you are at all times while you are online. The location permission is mandatory. You cannot go online without enabling it.
Picup vs. Mr D: A South African Delivery Comparison
In the South African delivery market, Picup competes directly with Mr D Food and Uber Eats. The key difference is the business model. Mr D and Uber Eats focus primarily on food delivery. Picup handles a wider range of items — documents, parcels, packages, even bulky goods like furniture. The Picup Driver App is designed for this variety. You might deliver a legal document from a law firm in Cape Town one hour and a package of baby formula from a pharmacy the next.
Another difference is the payment structure. Mr D and Uber Eats drivers typically earn a base fee plus tips. Picup drivers earn a per-delivery fee based on distance and demand.
